Chocolate Covered Strawberries
date:
I love making chocolate covered strawberries, but I was always bothered by the flat side that formed after they were dipped. Here’s an awesome trick for how to make the strawberries without getting a flat side. The secret? Toothpicks and Styrofoam. I inserted a toothpick into each strawberry, dipped it, and then stuck the toothpick into a Styrofoam board. Flat side no more!

My other trick? To get the chocolate nice and smooth, add a little bit of coconut oil or vegetable shortening into the chocolate before melting. I made these chocolate covered strawberries for my friends Joanne and Javier. I was so honored they asked me to make these for their wedding reception.

They look fantastic!! Thanks for sharing the tip about how to let the chocolate dry without “pooling up.” I’ve been wondering how to do that!
Thanks! I was so glad when I found that trick. I’ll never be making chocolate covered strawberries the same way again!
The strawberries look divine!! I tagged you in my blog, but please, feel no pressure to do it. It’s the 7 Interesting Facts tag. Have a great 2009!
Thanks so much, Erin (for the sweet comment and for tagging me)!
